George Johnson, another New York Times science writer, and I began a workshop to teach and otherwise inspire people about science writing in 1995. It's been a major success. We bring in colleagues from major news organizations to help us teach 45 students the nuts and bolts of our profession. Since the workshop runs only five days, we don't have a lot of time to teach writing per se. But if you are thinking about science writing as a career or want to expand your contacts, you might enjoy coming to Santa Fe.
It takes place every spring. For more information, photos and stories from past workshops, a list of instructors who have participated, and for future dates, please visit: Santa Fe Science Writing Workshop.
